Provide Safety and Security With New Entry Doors

Visitors to your home get their first impression by walking through your front door. If you have an older home with a wooden front door, you might not be giving the impression you would like it to.

Today's modern entry doors are a great improvement over the standard builder's doors installed on many homes today. First of all, they're more energy efficient. Not only are they insulated inside, but they also come with better weather stripping around the jambs which virtually eliminates cold winter drafts.

Instead of being made out of wood, today's entry and patio doors are crafted with a polyurethane core that can provide insulation values of up to R-15 -- more than what the US Department of Energy recommends for wall insulation. The face of the door can be made of steel or fiberglass. Both these products offer protection against damage, warping, or cracking.

Many homeowners want to bring more light into their rooms, and entry doors are available with several window options, including sidelites that are installed on either or both sides of the entryway, or with half or full windows built into the door. The windows are typically double- or triple-pane to provide additional energy savings.
